I bought this for my friend's daughter as she was harassing my friend for a puppy. It done the trick. As much as her little girl loves playing with her puppy; she has realized how hard it would be to raise one in real life. Fantastic game and has provided the whole family with hours of fun as each member now has their own puppy to train and love. Must buy for all doggy lovers! I highly recommend this Nintendogs for GameCube
A Walk Around The Block
A Walk Around The Block
Walk your pets around and try not to cause too much trouble for your neighbors.
This game was made entirely in Rust using the wonderful Bevy game engine and is my submission for the 2nd Rusty game jam! The theme of the jam was this image interpreted however you'd like. I hope you enjoy it and let me know your thoughts in the comments! Also, check out the other games in the jam! Please read the Notes section below for how to play as well as suggestions for how best to run the game. IF YOU USE A CONTROLLER, USE THE D-PAD!
Quick ProTip for Beginners: don't pick up too many pets too fast because it can get overwhelming!
NOTE: The browser version has an issue where it doesn't pick up "yanks" on the leash very well. The downloadable versions respond better. Restarting the game may help though.
A Walk Around The Block is an isometric singleplayer action game where you try to get the highest score before time runs out. Points can be added or deducted by various actions you or your pets do. Each additional pet you're walking multiplies the number of points you get per yellow orb.
There are three types of pets: Dogs, Chickens and ChickenDogs, which each have their own behaviors and interactions with the environment.
The player can walk up to 4 pets at a time, each controlled by one of the "face buttons" on your controller or the keys IJKL on your keyboard. The leashes' color corresponds to the button pressed to control that pet. Players can hold down the button to keep a constant pull on the leash or tap the button to give the leash a yank to quickly pull a pet toward the player.
Walking around the block you'll encounter neighbors, chipmunks and worms. Dogs love to be petted, but will try to chase down chipmunks. Chickens ignore the chipmunks, will eat worms and will annoy people. ChickenDogs will destroy anything they encounter.
The player levels up after each 1000 points which affects how quickly you can move and how powerful your pets are. Try to keep track of your pets because if they wander too far you may lose them and get a Game Over!
If using a browser, this game runs better in Chrome versus Firefox, and the downloadable executables work best.
Also, the controller support can be a little weird across controllers, sometimes the mapping of the Yellow and Blue buttons are inverted unfortunately. Also, analog sticks work mostly but D-Pad responds a lot better.
Plugging in a controller will sometimes make the keyboard no longer playable.

This is a really great idea! What a silly experience. I love it. I did have a hard time pulling the dogs back at one point, they got stuck near a house.
thank you for playing and sharing feedback! I haven't had time to play it much since finishing it. I would think you can "yank" a pet off a wall if you are positioned right and tap their leash button, just curious did you try that?
